We provide this table as an example of the current situation regarding open distribution of scientific results by world universities. In the case of United Kingdom, the production of quality papers is far higher than the number of them available in repositories and thus being indexed by Google Scholar.

Webometrics排名指標與計算公式

此項排名的指標分為四項（CINDOC-CSIC, 2009b）：

一、網頁規模（Size），占20%：統計各大搜尋引擎如Google, Yahoo等系統記錄的各大學網頁頁數。

二、能見度（Visibility），占50%：統計搜尋引擎如Yahoo記錄的各大學網頁被連結數（total number of unique external links received, i.e., inlinks）。

三、教學檔案（Rich Files），占15%：統計搜尋引擎如Google記錄各大學網頁的多種類型檔案個數，包含Adobe Acrobat（pdf）, Adobe PostScript（ps）, Microsoft Word（doc）與Microsoft Powerpoint（ppt）等形式之檔案。

四、學術文件（Scholar），占15%：由Google Scholar網站所搜尋到之學術文章等學術研究相關的文件數量。

根據參考文獻（Aguillo, Granadino, Ortega, & Prieto, 2006; Aguillo, Ortega, & Fernández, 2008），上述各排名指標（S, V, R, Sc）乃依表一查詢命令範例，針對各個大學的網域到搜尋引擎檢索，綜整合併結果後，依不同比例合併各指標排名，做為最後的排名依據。亦即，其WR（World Ranking）的計算公式如下：
